About the Project

What We Did

One year after COVID-19 in 2021 the OAC did a survey to find out what happened during the first year of the Pandemic for Ottawa Urban Indigenous people.

1000+ Stories

Over 1000 community members shared their stories and experiences of what happened during the first year of COVID-19.

Where We Are Now

We are currently analyzing the data to consolidate individuals' experiences, aiming to narrate the impact of the first year of the pandemic on Ottawa's Urban Indigenous community.

Presentations

The initial themes of the research were presented to the community in September 2023, followed by a presentation at the OAC Career Fair on November 30, 2023. On October 2, 2023, we also presented at the Metropolis Social Determinants of Health Conference, and additionally, we shared Inuit-specific data at the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami Housing Conference on February 7, 2024.
