RESEARCH PROJECTS

At the Ottawa Aboriginal Coalition we are committed to conducting community-driven research that amplifies the voices and experiences of Indigenous peoples in Ottawa. Our approach centres the stories that live within our community, ensuring that our cultural knowledge and perspectives guide the research process. Together, we strive to empower our communities to take charge of their own narratives and address the pressing issues urban Indigenous people face in Ottawa.

We acknowledge the gift of being on Anishnabek territory and specifically on Algonquin Territory. We want to recognize the two closest Algonquin First Nation communities: Kitigan Zibi and the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan. We also recognize that today - Ottawa is a gathering place for First Nations, Inuit and Métis from across Canada. This land acknowledgement commits us to the original relationship we were building together – through friendship and peace.
