OUR MEMBERS

Members of the Coalition acknowledge their shared responsibility in building the community that we want to live in.

Current Membership

The OAC consists of local Indigenous service organizations and a representative from the Métis community. The Coalition welcomes all Indigenous service organizations based in Ottawa. As a unified body, the Executive Directors collaborate to serve the collective interests of the Indigenous community and address its specific needs.

 Membership Acknowledging Our Former Members

The Ottawa Aboriginal Coalition recognizes and honours the contributions of our former members. Throughout the years, these member organizations have played an integral role in shaping the Coalition’s work and fostering stronger ties within the Indigenous community of Ottawa. Their dedication, leadership, and commitment to service have paved the way for the ongoing success of our shared mission.

The Coalition is built on the principle that when we come together, our collective voice is stronger. Former members have been key to this philosophy, helping to create meaningful partnerships, build capacity, and address the specific needs of our First Nation, Inuit, and Métis communities. We remain grateful for their time, expertise, and passion for building a better, more inclusive community.

Though their formal roles may have changed, the relationships and legacies they have left continue to inspire and guide us in our collective work. We honour the lasting impact they have had on the Coalition, and we continue to work toward the vision of a community where all Indigenous peoples can thrive.

In Our Work We Respect:

1. THE CULTURAL DIVERSITY OF THE COMMUNITY WHICH IS MADE UP OF FIRST NATION, INUIT AND MÉTIS PEOPLE.

2. THE MANDATES OF EACH ORGANIZATION.

As members of the OAC we recognize that when we work together, our collective voice is stronger and one of our primary tools of work is through the building and maintaining of relationships and partnerships.

We acknowledge the gift of being on Anishnabek territory and specifically on Algonquin Territory. We want to recognize the two closest Algonquin First Nation communities: Kitigan Zibi and the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan. We also recognize that today - Ottawa is a gathering place for First Nations, Inuit and Métis from across Canada. This land acknowledgement commits us to the original relationship we were building together – through friendship and peace.
